Subject:   Seminar/presentation of papers by ISS officers.

To explore the potential and capabilities of the young ISS officers for advancement of their academic interest and analytical contribution to Indian Statistical System, a system of holding monthly seminars has been initiated in Central Statistical Organisation. Till date two such seminars have been held in November and December, 2003 and next seminar is proposed to be held on the theme 'National Accounts'.

The Ministry proposes to hold such seminars as a regular feature of activities of the Ministry on various themes. A list of themes identified for ensuing series of seminars is as follows:

1 .  Agricultural Statistics

2.              Industrial Statistics

3.              Price & Cost of Living

4.              Labour and Employment Statistics

5.             Social   Statistics   including   population   Statistics   (excluding   Health
Statistics)

6.              Health Statistics

7.              Service Statistics including Transport, Communication and Finance

8.              Trade Statistics

9.             Sample   Survey   Methodology   and   Organisation   of   large   scale
survey/census.

It is, therefore requested that officers working under your charge be encouraged to write the papers on any of the above themes. Papers may be sent to the Training Division, CSO M/s S&PI. A token honorarium of Rs. 5000/- to the author (subject to the restriction as per GO! Order No, 2(5) under FR-46) shall be paid to the authors whose papers are selected for the presentation.
